Telemental Health

Do you think therapy will not fit your schedule?

Our office provides online (video) sessions where you can get the therapy you need from the comfort of your own home or office. This therapy format is convenient and also confidential. We provide HIPAA-compliant services through TherapyNotes Telehealth. Due to licensing restrictions, online sessions can only be provided for those with a permanent address in Georgia.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback is a specialized therapeutic technique that targets the physiological source of many mental health problems. It is a learning process that helps you develop increased awareness by using signals from your body to improve your overall health and performance. The main goal of biofeedback is to improve your self-regulation. Through biofeedback training, you will learn how to better control your physiology and live a healthier, performance-enhancing lifestyle. At Mountainview Counseling, we utilize HRV biofeedback which examines heart rate variability and the connection between our heart and brain. This connection can be strengthened to bring about improved mental and emotional health. If you’d like to learn more about biofeedback, check out some of our resources: https://www.heartmath.org/ and https://www.heartmath.com/

F.A.Q.

Yes! People seek counseling for a variety of reasons such as dealing with a crisis, finding a solution to a problem or relationship, finding purpose in life, or navigating life transitions. Counseling is a safe place for you to explore these issues and talk freely. The main objective of counseling is to provide you clarity and healing. Counselors are specially trained to ask certain types of questions, challenge negative thought patterns, and provide feedback from an unbiased viewpoint

Yes! Counseling sessions are kept confidential except as otherwise required or permitted by law. For example, confidentiality cannot be kept in cases of child or elder abuse occurrence or the threat of harm to self or another person.

Each client needs to have a counselor they feel is a good fit for them and meets their needs. This will be discussed in-depth before setting the appointment and at the first session. If the counselor does not feel they are a good fit for you, referral information to a counselor colleague better suited to meet your needs will be provided.

Intakes are scheduled for two hours. Subsequent sessions after the intake are 45 minutes.

We are a private-pay only practice. Sessions with a Master’s Level Licensed Professional Counselor are $90-$100 per session and $125-$150 per intake based and determined by the provider (Please call for a more specific rate if you would like to see a Master’s Level LPC). Associate counselor rates are $120 for an intake and $75 per session. Family and couples sessions with an associate counselor are $85. A master’s level professional who has not applied for licensure yet has rates of $65 per session and $110 per intake. Family and couples sessions are $75 per session. Lower rates based upon a sliding scale are available based upon client income and financial need.

You have the right to receive a “good faith estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. We will provide you an estimate of the bill for counseling services. You may ask us for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a session. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill under certain conditions. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. See more information below about surprise medical bills.

Our office typically sees clients once a week when starting the therapy process. Over time, the sessions may be twice a month or once a month depending on progress.

Each client’s situation is different, but ultimately the client is responsible for how much time they want to invest in therapy. Some problems can be resolved in three sessions while other sessions require more in-depth care. We work with our clients on the length of time needed to reach your goals.

Please plan to arrive at least ten minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.

Please bring completed intake paperwork sent via email as well as a form of payment for the session. We accept cash, check (made payable to Mountainview Counseling), credit card, or HSA/FSA card. We do prefer cash or check over card. Card payments are processed via Square. There is a $30 charge for returned checks. A superbill can be provided upon request if you want to utilize out-of-network benefits. If you are a divorced parent of a child or adolescent client, please bring a copy of your divorce decree and final custody agreement. Your counselor may need both parents to attend the intake session based upon the agreement.

Please note there is a small credit card processing fee for clients that choose to use a credit/debit card.

During the intake session, your counselor will meet with you to review informed consent, confidentiality, and practice policies. After completion of all forms, your counselor will discuss with you the particular challenges you have been experiencing and gather personal and family history in order to get to know you better. A treatment plan will also be discussed in the session where treatment options will be collaboratively discussed and decided upon.

To reach Dr. Turk and our associate counselors, call 678-989-7133 or email drturk@mountainviewcounseling.net.

Therapy is most effective when attended regularly. However, we understand that life happens and sometimes you will have to cancel. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify our office as soon as possible. Cancellations made without providing notice will result in a charge.
