Founded by Dr. Britney Turk, Mountainview Counseling aims to bring exceptional mental health services to the community based upon current psychological research and most importantly an empathetic, healing approach. Our goal is to help you on your journey of personal growth and emotional health. In counseling, we come along side you in a collaborative, deeply personal problem-solving process to guide you toward positive change. Counseling is helpful for a variety of problems such as life stressors and transitions, past or current trauma, relational problems, anxiety, depression, and behavioral change. Additionally, counseling is a unique experience and a relationship that will provide you a positive environment to discuss change and your challenges safe from judgment or consequences. Dr. Turk, Owner and Clinical Director

Originally from Aiken, South Carolina, Dr. Turk is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia and is experienced in working with behavioral and mood problems such as depression, relationship issues, life transitions and stressors, anxiety, behavioral and substance addiction, ADHD, child or adolescent issues, trauma, and anger management. Dr. Turk is certified in HeartMath® biofeedback, a physiologically based treatment for a variety of mental health and medical problems, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), an intervention that targets emotional dysregulation, and also holds certification as an integrative mental health professional (CIMHP). Dr. Turk is also trained in Sandtray Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an effective eye movement therapy developed from EMDR. In this evidence-based intervention, clients are able to process distressing or traumatic experiences without verbally explaining details of the event to the clinician. Positive results can be achieved in a minimum of 3-5 sessions with ART!

Dr. Turk is also a nationally board certified counselor (NCC) and utilizes an integrative approach to counseling based upon her client’s needs. Dr. Turk’s strategies can help balance the mind and body and find a solution that works for you to help you reach your goals.

Education & Training

Dr. Turk holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida, a Master of Science degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia, and a PhD in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health Practice and Policy from Northcentral University in La Jolla, California. Dr. Turk completed her practicum and internship experiences at The Brenau Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, a community mental health clinic which offers individual, family, and couples therapy, and Creation Counseling, a private practice which offers individual and group services for court-mandated clients with addiction, anger management, and other mental health concerns. Dr. Turk completed her post-masters clinical experience at Chattahoochee Child Psychology, specializing in work with children and adolescents, and received further training at the Brain Science Center, an organization specializing in brain-based therapeutics including neurofeedback and biofeedback. 

Service

Dr. Turk teaches graduate counseling psychology at Yorkville University as an adjunct instructor. She has served the community as a mental health consultant in Hall County for Ninth District Opportunity’s Head Start program and sat on the Licensed Professional Counselor Association of Georgia’s Board of Directors for three years (2019-2022). Dr. Turk is a HeartMath® Certified Trainer for the Resilience Advantage Program. Meet Our Associates

Laura Aiken, MS, LAPC

Born and raised in Gainesville, GA, Laura Aiken is an Associate Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Georgia and a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University. She is currently working towards a second Master of Science degree from the University of North Georgia in Criminal Justice. 

Laura utilizes a holistic approach to counseling, integrating several approaches including DBT, motivational interviewing, solution-focused techniques as well as music, art, and nature. Laura provides individual services for adolescents and adults. 

She has experience working with addiction, trauma, and other concerns such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, and anger management. Her previous work and internship experience include ten years at a residential recovery center for substance abuse for women as well as working with the school system and the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). Her goal is to help clients achieve balance and find joy in their lives.

Laura is under the supervision of Anjana Freeman, LPC, CPCS, and the direction of Britney Turk, PhD, LPC. She is currently taking new clients in-person and via telehealth (case by case basis for telehealth).

Brock Aiken

Mountainview Counseling is excited to introduce our newest team member, facility/therapy dog Brock Bowers Aiken. He answers to Brock or BB. He’s joining us from Atlanta Humane Society and received training from Two Paw: Behavior Solutions & Spa. His focus is helping those around him feel happy and comfortable. He is very excited to begin working and meeting everyone!

 

Kaleigh Camp, MS

Kaleigh Camp is a master’s level clinician born and raised in Georgia. She holds an associate’s and bachelor’s degree in psychology. She graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University. Kaleigh interned at Grady Behavioral Health and South Hall Middle School. These experiences involved working with a variety of individuals coming from various backgrounds. At Grady, she performed individual therapy and led groups on women’s trauma, supportive counseling, DBT, and exercise. At South Hall Middle School she performed individual counseling with students as needed.

She utilizes a holistic approach tailored to the individual and their needs. This approach may involve Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She provides services to adolescents and adults. She has experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder.

Kaleigh’s goal is to help her clients define and work towards goals to improve their quality of life. She meets every client where they prefer to be met and creates steps side by side to achieve the goals one brings to therapy.

She is under the supervision of Tara Overzat, PhD, LPC, ACS and the direction of Britney Turk, PhD, LPC. She is currently taking new clients both in person and via telehealth.
